Working...again.

I went back to work against my better judgment...lol. I worked at the last place we lived here in
Germany..and well..they asked me to come back to work. I didnt really want to but hey..we can all use a little extra cash right? I have been working since Aug. and that is why I have not been posting. This job sucks the life out of me. It makes it hard to keep up with the things I love to do.

I have not been able to do any quilting, but I am collecting old jeans to make another rag quilt. Everyone just rants and raves about the last one I made and I do love the weight of the jean material. I know..very basic, but basic is still a challange for me at this point.

I also have been having a lot of fun during football season. We were tailgating every Saturday morning (yes, our football games are on Saturdays here in Germany). It has been a lot of fun!! I am so proud of our team. I am sorry to see it end but I have wonderful memories and tons of pictures. I also have a son layed up in bed right now recovering from surgery....a hernia from the last game before playoffs. I just keep telling him that he will be in great shape for next year.

Another fun weekend at Garmisch

This is at the Fraundorfer in Garmisch Germany. One of our most favorite places to eat!! We were there the weekend before last and had a blast visiting the Dachau concentration camp as well as the Neuschwanstien castle. I have been there many time and so I didnt take pictures this trip. It was pouring down rain that day...that entire weekend as a matter of fact, but that did not ruin our fun!!
Tina and I waiting for our food and wine. It was another wonderful dinner.

I am back...

I have been in the States for a few months due to a planned surgery for my husband. He is doing great and the new bionic parts are working well. I was able to do some school shopping for the boys and see my 2 adult children as well as visit with a few of my favorite friends. It was a wonderful 2 months. I was to busy to even think about quilting, but was able to pick up a few fat quarters here and there. I am looking forward to getting started on a few table runners and maybe some wall hangings for the holidays.

I love my new pin cushion!!!!!

I have been fighting the flu in our house over the few weeks and just as we were getting over the flu a cold slipped in and I had to take 2 of the boys back to the Dr. for ear infections and fevers. So far I have been lucky to not catch the cold...but the flu was overwhelming. So maybe we are now on the mend from all of this and I can get back to what I love ..(not that I don't love my kids) quilting!!!!

Yesterday I found a great pin cushion patternhttp://barij.typepad.com/my_weblog/files/pin20cushion20tutorial.pdf on the Internet and had to make it. I just love it!! It brought back a lot of great memories of when I was about 8 or 9 years old and in 4-H. I had to make a pin cushion as a project and my mother brought me to my Grandmothers house for help. She was a very talented seamstress and I learned so much from her during my childhood. I held onto that pin cushion for many years...then it just disapeard. I loved those times with my Grandmother and miss her dearly.

My latest projects

The St. Patty's day table runner I finnished last week. It was great for a beginner. I got a little instruction from my friend Amy...Thanks Amy!! The 4th of July runner is from a Moda Jelly roll. I just kind of threw it together by sewing the strips together. I am not sure what I will start next. I wanted to make a Valentines day wall hanging but couldn't find a pattern and was not brave enough to just wing it. I will keep looking and maybe be able to use it next year. I have been looking at a lot of new fall projects...just can't pick one. I will post my next project start to finnish.

So..I decided to put a few pictures of the area that is a favorite of mine to visit...Rothenburg. Enjoy.

Latest project

This is another rag quilt that I just love! I used old jeans for this and a flannel backing.
